The two days of technical legal instruction are followed by two days or practice development and management, designed specifically for an estate planning practice. Whether you're new to estate planning or have been practicing in this area for many years, these two days will give you plenty of concrete ideas to take back to your office and implement immediately to help you grow your practice

This two-day course examines the issues surrounding the use and drafting of Family Limited Partnerships (FLPs) and Family Limited Liability Companies (FLLCs), including an overview of these entities, their use for asset protection, valuation adjustments and estate planning, as well as methods to transfer FLP or LLC interests, including SCINS and Private Annuities. This course is a "must attend" for any practitioner using or contemplating the use of FLPs or FLLCs.

This two-day course builds upon Estate Planning 101 by examining and teaching how to explain to clients, in an effective and integrated manner, basic through advanced estate planning techniques such as revocable trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, family limited partnerships and limited liability companies, charitable foundations, and testamentary charitable lead trusts. Includes discussions of BERT trusts and Wyoming LLCs. This practical course is relevant to all estate and financial planning professionals, and is a precursor to WealthCounsel's Estate Planning 200 series.

This 2-day course will take you step by step through the process of administering a trust, from initial client meeting, through the establishment of the administrative trust, funding the marital and family trusts (with examples of multiple funding formulas), and closing the administration with the establishment of the sub-trusts. A case study example of a client who implemented a comprehensive estate plan with WealthDocs documents, and then passes, will be utilized to demonstrate this process. SettlementCounselTM and the Gillett Estate Management System (GEMS) software systems will also be incorporated to illustrate the trust administration process.
Postmortem elections, including the 645 election and the 8855 Form, will be covered. A complete 706 and 1041 for the client will be explained and included in the materials, including examples of generation-skipping transfers on Schedule R. The course will cover expenses of administration (management vs. transmission), apportionment of estate taxes, and allocation of income earned during the course of administration. Materials will include numerous current checklists and sample letters used during administration.
